Some of My Friends Read Comics 235 – John Constantine, Hellblazer: Dangerous Habits + Thunderbolts #8

John Constantine is a badass. He’s such a badass that his series is called Hellblazer. He’s such a badass that he smokes and gets lung cancer and then tricks demons into cure his lung cancer for him. Wow, what a badass.

We’ve only seen this guy in the pages of Swamp Thing, so we’re reading Hellblazer #41-46 from 1991 when Garth Ennis took over writing duties.

Then we finally say goodbye to the Elements of Doom in Thunderbolts #8.

Some of My Friends Read Comics 137 – The Boys + Squadron Supreme #2

The Boys is a show. It seems to be a pretty popular one, so we read the comic book by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson that inspired it. This was an unwise decision. The levels of sex and gore in these pages had us questioning if we had become our own moms.

We moved onto Squadron Supreme #2 as quickly as we could.

Some of My Friends Read Comics 059 – Preacher

somfrc059

The television adaptation of Preacher just started its 2nd season, so we decided to read the first couple of stories from the classic Vertigo comic.

But does it hold up? Or is it yet another gore-fest from writer Garth Ennis?

Special guest Rob Robinson joins us to talk about angels, demons, aliens, vampires and arse-faces as we read issues 1-7 of Preacher.
