Some of My Friends Read Comics 171 – Captain America: Red Menace, Vol. 1 + The Life & Times of Scrooge McDuck #12 (Finale)

It’s been quite a while since we caught up with Ed Brubaker’s run on Captain America. Last time around we discovered that the Winter Soldier is Bucky. And this week we read the next part of that run in Captain America #15-17 and then the Captain America 65th Anniversary Special. There’s a big cool robot in it.

And then it’s finally time for the last chapter of The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck where Huey, Dewey, and Louie finally get to meet their great uncle!

It’s a major milestone for the Man of Steel as we read the newly released Action Comics #1000, filled with stories honoring Superman as well as Brian Michael Bendis’ first story after his move from Marvel to DC.

And since we’re reading something so modern, we figured we’d take a look at various offerings from this year’s Free Comic Book Day.

AND on top of all that we’re starting our deep dive into the classic Crisis on Infinite Earths by reading the first issue. That’s a lot of stuff!

Some of My Friends Read Comics 040 – Doctor Strange: The Oath

somfrc040

Doctor Strange is almost here! If the trailers are to be believed, Marvel’s next movie is going to have us unwrapping our minds, opening them up to new possibilities.

We figured we’d better get some practice with that, so we read a Doctor Strange miniseries from 2007 called The Oath written by frenemy of the show, Brian K. Vaughan, and drawn by Marcos Martin.

Join us to find out which otherworldly horror we’re getting tattoos of!
