All My Friends Are Right Here 057 – Pop Culture That Teaches

amfarh-057

Alright gumshoes! We need you to help us find the best educational videogames, TV shows, books, magazines, and toys! Vince’s son is getting older, and Vince needs to know the best pop culture for teaching children!

Did Oregon Trail really teach you anything?  What was the first educational book Vince ever remember reading? What was the better Carmen Sandiego experience: the videogame or the TV game show?

Also, does watching Nicktoons in Spanish count as watching educational TV? Does if liking La Catrina leave you pre-disposed to like The Vampire Diaries. And did There Will Be Blood rip off a scene from Eureka’s Castle?

Batman vs. Superman is out, and moviegoers everywhere finally got to see the Caped Crusader square off against the Man of Steel! Of course, this is old news if you’ve already been playing 2008’s Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe.

Yup! Mortal Kombat – the super-violent fighting game where the heroes kill each other at the end of their matches VERSUS the DC Universe, known for its heroes who won’t kill no matter what.

All My Friends Are Right Here 056 – Bands We Used to Love

amfarh-056

Weezer came out with The White Album last week, which has us reflecting on bands we used to love but no longer care about!  Why did our love fall apart?  Did we grow up?  Did the band change its sound?  Did they get political in a really weird way?

Also, how many times does a band have to tell you “We’re going back to our roots with this new album?” before you finally tap out?  And, who’s got the better lead singer turned comic-book-writer: My Chemical Romance or Say Anything? And speaking of Say Anything, why does Kia only like bands who are named after movies?

In the comments below, please tell us what bands you used to love that you’re indifferent about!

The Friends That Play Together 003 – Mortal Kombat XL

Join THE FRIENDS THAT PLAY TOGETHER for a few rousing rounds of skull-cracking, farting on each other (in game), and fatalities!

Some of My Friends Read Comics 025 – Not Brand Echh

somfrc025

It’s April Fools Day and Chris played one hell of an unintentional prank on us by choosing Not Brand Echh for this week’s episode.

We read the first three issues of Stan Lee’s 1967 attempt to make a Marvel comedy magazine and, to be honest, we had a pretty great time ripping this thing to shreds while searching for any jokes.

It also gave us a great chance to talk about a bunch of other funny comics that are actually worth reading! All that and more on today’s Bum Of My Bends Bead Bomics!

Who says a podcast has to be good??

All My Friends Are Right Here 055 – EGOT Odds

image

When you’re talking prestigious awards, it doesn’t get much better than the EGOT — the quadruple crown consisting of an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony. Only a handful of artists and performers have ever pulled it off.

So, who is the most likely to join the hallowed halls of Whoopi and enter into this exclusive club?

On this week’s episode, the guys will compare artists who have three of the awards and determine who has the best shot at pulling off the EGOT. Along the way, they’ll ask difficult questions like: Should Elton John write a House of Cards spec script? Would Geoffrey Rush be a better front man for Thirty Odd Foot of Grunts than Russell Crowe? And why isn’t Lin-Manuel Miranda president yet?

All My Friends Are Right Here 054 – Ranking the Batman Movies

amfarh-054

On this week’s Batman Super-Spectacular, we rank all nine of the theatrically released Batman films!  That means the 60’s Batman: The Movie, the Tim Burton/Joel Schumacher quartet, and Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, plus the animated Mask of the Phantasm.

Our panel of Bat-experts decides the best Batman movie and the worst Batman movie.  We also decide the best & worst Batman actor and the best & worst Bruce Wayne actor (and they’re not necessarily the same!).  And…find out which Batman movie taught Richard about the existence of the United Nations!
