AMFARH 034 – The Best James Bond 007 Theme Song

amfarh-034

The newest James Bond 007 movie opens this week, and though we already had a James Bond episode this year, there’s no lack of things to talk about when it comes to Britain’s top super spy!

This week, our panel of James Bond experts, hipsters, and musically uninclined people are here to rank all 24 James Bond theme songs from top to bottom.

Listen as one panelist attempts to sabotage the list by subtly sneaking not-really a James Bond song “Kingston Calypso” too high, another panelist summarizes academic research about what Madonna’s “Die Another Day” lyrics really mean, and another panelist imagines a world where the “Quantum of Solace” was sung by Jack Black instead of Jack White.

Some of My Friends Read Comics 014 – Batman: The Long Halloween

somfrc014

Batman embarks on a search for the mysterious “Holiday” Killer who, starting on Halloween, kills mobsters on major holidays until Batman finally catches Holiday a year later…

Wait, a year?!?! Better improve those detective skills, Bruce.

To be fair, he gets distracted by every single member of his rogues gallery and on top of all that he has to watch Harvey Dent go crazy and turn into Two-Face.

Join us as we read The Long Halloween and disagree completely on just about every aspect of this story!

AMFARH 033 – Halloween: Scariest Pop Culture Experiences

image

On this very special Halloween edition of AMFARH, the guys have snuck off into the spooky woods behind Old Mr. Miller’s barn to tell some scary stories.

But these aren’t your run of the mill Halloween tales, these are scary pop culture experiences, such as Most Upsetting Spoiler, Most Embarrassing Media Consumed With Parents, and Worst Celebrity Encounter.

Topics include: Jakob Dylan hissy fits, the lovely triangles of Lara Croft, and getting shamed by your mom.

Good job, mom!

Saturday Night Love – S41E03 – Tracy Morgan

snl41-03

Tracy Morgan’s back!  We’re are down one Scott this week, but that doesn’t stop us from asking the tough questions like Why does Young Osama Bin Laden have a skateboard? Are Bobby Moynihan’s Steven Seagal and Ted Cruz impressions the same impression? And of course, where Jackie Chan at right now?

Add in Astronaut Jones and Brian Fellows appearances, and we’ve got the makings of a good SNL episode!

Best Skit of the Night: Yo! Where Jackie Chan at Right Now?

Bonus Video – Astronaut Jones – The Greatest 4-Seconds

As Kia and I both observed, there’s only 4 seconds of Astronaut Jones available on YouTube.  But if it’s gonna be only 4 seconds, this sure is a great place to start.

That Was a Game 002 – James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing

We continue looking at weird James Bond 007 videogames by looking at 2004’s JAMES BOND 007: EVERYTHING OR NOTHING for the Gamecube, Playstation 2, and original Xbox.  EVERYTHING OR NOTHING marks Pierce Brosnan’s last turn as the British superspy.

It’s also incredibly strange because publisher Electronic Arts pulled out all the stops to make this as close as possible to “The next James Bond movie, but in game form!” To do this, they hired Bruce Feirstein, writer of Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies, and The World is Not Enough, to pen the game script.  And they filled the game with a star-studded cast of motion-captured automatons, played by Pierce Brosnan, Willem Dafoe, Heidi Klum, John Cleese, and Dame Judi Dench.

You guys, 2004 was a weird time for videogames.

AMFARH 032 – The Pitch Room: Always the Groom

Ever wonder how big time Hollywood movies get made? Well, hopefully not like this!

This week Kia and Michael put on their producer hats and try to build the perfect romantic comedy by soliciting ideas from a panel of Tinsel Town’s best and brightest.

Along the way, they’ll answer burning questions like: Is America ready for Ian McKellen as a rom com heroine? Are seals funnier than lions? And how good would a stripped-down piano version of “I Really Like You” sound?

Saturday Night Love – S41E02 – Amy Schumer

snl41-02

SNL superfan and Bradley Cooper’s girlfriend hosts this week’s Saturday Night Live, and Scott, Vince, and Kia are back to talk all about it.

On this episode, we talk about SNL’s political writing, the best skits on Inside Amy Schumer, and how worthless Taran Killam’s Mark P is.  Also, we still can’t get over Vanessa Bayer’s Billy Crystal impression.

Some of My Friends Read Comics 013 – Runaways by Brian K. Vaughan

somfrc013

Kids run away for lots of reasons, but most of the time it’s because they find out their parents are supervillains, right? Right?

Brian K. Vaughan (Saga, Y: The Last Man, Ex Machina) brings us one of Marvel’s most original superhero teams since the 60’s and one of the greatest entry points for any reader into the wonderful world of comic books.

AMFARH 031 – Trapped on a Deserted Island

amfarh-031

It’s a question that’s plagued men and women for centuries: If you were stranded on a deserted island, what pop culture artifacts would you take with you? What book would you take with you? What movie, TV season, videogame, and music album would you bring along?

In this episode, be prepared for such debates as, would you take Lost with you if you were trapped on a deserted island? Also, two guys with lit degrees argue over who really wrote Jane Eyre, and Kia reminds us of that time Buddy Rich had a drum-off with the Muppets’ Animal.

That Was a Game 001 – James Bond 007 (Game Boy)

I am very pleased to announce THAT WAS A GAME – the newest show on the All My Friends Network!

THAT WAS A GAME is our first video series, specifically looking at odd uses of classic IPs and licenses in videogame form.  On our first episode, we look at 1998’s “James Bond 007”, a Game Boy game made in the wake of the Nintendo 64’s “Goldeneye 007”.

James Bond 007 is a very odd game, and it shares more in common with The Legend of Zelda than Goldeneye.  On THAT WAS A GAME, we explore what makes the game so odd and recommend if it’s worth your time.

Please sound off in the comments what games you’d like to see, and what you’d like to see more of!
