Tuesday Morning Pod: Taraji P. Henson (Season 40, Episode 18)

tmp40-18Taraji P. Henson hosted this week’s Saturday Night Live, and boy, was Cookie a real Monster.

While an uneven episode, there was a little something for everyone – the return of Kate McKinnon’s Hillary Clinton, QVC cat jokes, Empire/Sesame Street mashups, and super racist A League of Their Own parodies.

All that and more in this week’s Tuesday Morning Pod!

Overall, there were a lot of skits that were good premise, but not much payoff.  Even so, there were some fantastic belly laughs to be had.

This week’s Best Skit of the Night was a controversial decision.  It was Scott and Kia’s favorite, but definitely not Vince’s favorite (because Vince is a good feminist).  It was Teacher Trial.

In this week’s special b-b-b-onus-s-s episode, we take a spoiler-filled look at the biggest movie in the world: Furious 7.

We also talk about 32-year-old high schooler students, our hopes and fears for Fast & Furious V8, and whether there is such a thing as an egregious amount of butts.

Spoilers ahead!

This week we also have a special fan contest! Please draw a picture of Michael, Scott, Dylan, and Vince as the Fast and Furious crew and post it in the comments below, email it to allmyfriendsarerighthere@gmail.com, or tweet it to @wererighthere!

Sorta Related: A 2008 Cars Short Ripped Off the Plot of Tokyo Drift

My son and I stumbled upon “Tokyo Mater”, a 2008 Cars short that basically just ripped off the plot of The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, with Tow Mater as the Bama Boy racing to become the King of All Drift Racing / Drift King.

This was one year before the Fast & Furious franchise came back with a vengeance in 2009.  Which just makes me wonder…who at Pixar loved Tokyo Drift so much that they were able to greenlight an entire short?

Tuesday Morning Pod: Michael Keaton (Season 40, Episode 17)

tmp40-17b

It’s showtime! Michael Keaton hosts SNL for a very, very weird night. Guys, there were Dire Straits jokes. And Johnny Dangerously jokes! And cats dressed as Hillary Clinton!

Kia couldn’t make it onto this week’s record, but our good friend Chris Dobson from the Your Stupid Minds podcast guests on our latest episode.

Please listen and subscribe and then remember to call your grandmother!

The best skit of the night was Easter Candy, a very weird (no surprise) little skit.

Easter Candy is a recurring skit of an Ed Norton skit from last season. It’s also pretty funny!

AMFARH 011 – Tim Allen vs. John Goodman

AMFARH_011

Because you DEMANDED it!

Every day, people beg us to do an episode about Tim Allen and John Goodman.  I don’t know why that iis, but it’s frequently the most requested episode.  Today, we’re finally gonna dive deep and determine – whose career is best: Tim Allen or John Goodman?

From their 90s sitcoms to their Pixar adventures and everywhere in-between, join all my friends to talk Allen and Goodman in this sure-to-be fan favorite episode!

Tuesday Morning Pod: Dwayne Johnson (Season 40, Episode 16)

tmp40-16

It’s Fast & Furious week here at All My Friends Are Right Here!  Dwayne Johnson hosts Saturday Night Live for the 4th time (and our second “D. Johnson” in 3 episodes).

Join Scott, Kia, and Vince for their thoughts on The Rock Obama, wrestling promos, and truly impressive cartwheels.

Disney’s Bambi made a valiant effort for “Skit of the Night”, but the panel ultimately decided that WWE Promo Shoot was the stronger bit.

Next week, join us as Michael Keaton hosts for the 1st time in 23 years!

AMFARH 010 – Fast and Furious Franchise

AMFARH_010

On the eve of Furious 7’s release, Michael, Dylan, Richard, and Vince look at all six movies in the Fast & Furious franchise to see how the films evolved from “Point Break with Cars” into “Ocean’s Eleven with Cars”.

Along the way, we’ll learn how many times is NOS used?  How many times is the word “family” said?  When did “Ride or Die” become a thing?  All this and more in our blistering run through the Fast & Furious franchise.

Also, please welcome Richard on his first appearance on the show.  It was a blast having him on.

AMFARH 009 – Rebooting Back to the Future

We’ve got to go back! This week the guys discuss Back to the Future and what it says about our own fascination with the generation in which we live.

Listen as they debate the merits of rebooting the classic film, then decide to do it anyway. The guys each draft their perfect reboot casts and directors, then vote on who has the best.

Who will come out on top?
Hint: it’s not the host who casts himself.

Tuesday Morning Pod: Chris Hemsworth (Season 40, Episode 15)

tmp40-15

Thor hosted this week’s Saturday Night Live, so that gives Scott, Vince, and featured player Kia ample time to talk about Thor’s muscles, Avengers minutiae, and ugly Hemsworth brothers.

This week’s best skit was the Hillary Clinton Cold Open.  That’s not to say that the episode was all downhill from the beginning.  It was just a nice, strong introduction to a new Kate McKinnon impression. Her Hillary should be fun going into the 2016 election season.

Oh, and Kia’s screener somehow missed the Beck Bennett/Kyle Mooney “Reality House”.  So I’ve included it below for him.

AMFARH 008 – Now, That’s What I Called Music, Vol. 2

image

It’s back! The guys travel back to 1999 to discuss the chart-toppers of “Now, That’s What I Call Music, Vol. 2.”

In addition to discussing the merits of each song and drafting their favorites, they’ll answer questions that have haunted man since the dawn of the 21st Century. Who is Sheryl Crow’s favorite mistake? What hit song was co-written by Seneca the Younger? Can Scott rap all the lyrics to the Robbie Williams classic “Rock DJ”?
